Disposition:
Performative self: Shen Qingqiu for the most part puts on a false presentation of himself. Not that it’s completely fake, but what he tries to project is an idealized version of what he thinks the character Shen Qingqiu should be. Ethereal, cold, and aloof. He’s rather decent at it, however, he’s not so good at the ruse to fool those familiar with the Original Shen Qingqiu.

Before dying and being reborn as Shen Qingqiu, Shen Yuan was a rather notorious web novel fan known for his harsh criticisms and strong opinions for the various novels he read. Especially for the novel Proud Immortal Demon’s Way, where he was known for being a fan who loved to hate.

Teacher: Despite himself he is a very good teacher, taking to heart his students and disciples trials and tribulations and caring for their wellbeing, and raising them with all of his heart. He has strong paternal instincts, but this does not take away from his strict educational practices. He is not mean however, he is fair and though strict, is not unkind or harsh. In a way the fact his disciples grow up to be cry babies about him says a lot about his methods.

Unreliable Narrator: Shen Qingqiu lies a lot about his feelings and inclinations, though how aware he is of this is unknown. He has a tendency to deny things he doesn’t want to deal with, run away from problems either figuratively or literally (He jumps out of a window on a second story to get away from one) and makes up lots of excuses as to why it must be the way he assumes things to be rather than to question or admit to changing his mind.

Soft: In the end he is a soft person, quick to forgive anyone he has spent enough positive time with, and finding a lot of reasons to be sympathetic towards others.

Dismissive: Shen Qingqiu can be quite dismissive, despite his more or less kind nature. He assumes he knows best, and what he assumes is the right way, though he doesn’t think he’s ignoring or dismissing others, he does quickly brush them aside. He treats almost all other people like children while he is the responsible adult, even when they are also adults now and should be listened to equally.

Under pressure: Shen Qingqiu as a peak lord and accomplished cultivator is rather good at faking it until you make it. In situations where he has resources, he is a great bluffer, presenting a cool and calm outward appearance where he is in control and knows what he’s doing, while under the surface he is freaking out, swearing, and trying to figure out how to BS his way through whatever situation has come up. And if he isn’t low key panicking, he simply isn’t worried at all when he should be, being slightly detached from the events around him due to nothing quite feeling real since he is a transmigrator.

Condition upon arrival: More or less healthy human cultivator, however, he does suffer from a poison called Without a Cure which periodically stops the flow of his Qi, and without help in restarting the flow will kill him. He also can’t use any abilities when it stalls.

Abilities: As a Golden Core Cultivator there are a lot of vague abilities that come with the genre, that includes extended life span, aging slowly, increased strength, speed, martial arts prowess and spell work. I will list some of the skills he uses that are easier to group up.

Flying Sword: Using Xiu Ya his spiritual sword, he can fly on it like a witch with a broom.

Talismans: Depending on what is written on them the effect can change, they can explode, dispel, shield, and seal. Shen Qingqiu as a scholar specializes in this and spell work. He also has the ability to duplicate a talisman when in his hands from one to a stack without writing more out.

Martial Arts: As a sword cultivator he is adept with a sword, though he is not as skilled as others who specialize in sword combat, the margin of difference is only noticeable when considering specialties.

Qi Infusing: He can infuse objects with qi and control them. He is most notable for doing this with bamboo leaves and using them like razor darts, and on his bamboo fan, which he reinforces and can use as a weapon including blocking swords without them breaking. He can also use qi to conjure strong wind. These techniques he uses the most since he is a defensive fighter.

Inventory: The robes he wears, which are layers of light bluish-green, his sword Xiu Ya, and 2 bamboo fans, one plain, and one ornate.
